Newcastle West, Limerick, Ireland

Situated on the N21, Newcastle West is long recognised as the gateway to the south west of Ireland. Located just twenty minutes drive from Limerick city and just a mere hour from Killarney. Its strategic location is one of the many reason for the town's thriving success through recent years.

Home to the Limerick County Council, Newcastle West serves as the capital of the county, as well as a market, service and employment centre for a large rural hinterland.

Historically, Newcastle West is a medieval town, which was occupied by the Knights Templar and the beautiful Desmond Hall, situated in The Square, is the focal point of the town.

Newcastle West features a wide range of local amenities including the church, a community centre, library, primary and secondary schools, public heated outdoor swimming pool.

Leisure amenities are in abundance with local GAA club, soccer, tennis, rugby and athletics. A fully equipped leisure centre, complete with swimming pool, is just five minutes away and there are two 18 hole golf courses situated within ten minutes drive. The River Arra is renowned as one of the best rivers for trout fishing in Ireland.

Newcastle West is home to an Arts Festival each April, which includes a spectacular street theatre parade. In July we have the Newcastle West Agricultural Show & Horse Show. National Heritage Week is a feature each September.

Newcastle West is central to all the towns and villages of West Limerick, as well as convenient to North Cork and North Kerry. All of this makes Newcastle West a very attractive location in which to live.
